February – SUSK Stop Putin! Sticker Project

SUSK is proud to announce the launch of the SUSK “Stop Putin!” sticker project. SUSK will be selling stickers to Ukrainian Canadian students and the community at large, with a portion of the proceeds going towards supporting Ukraine.

SUSK announces National Networking Event Series

SUSK announces National Networking Event Series – SUSK intends to actively engage students with events to build professional skills as well as foster relationships with successful Ukrainian Canadians, including SUSK alumni. 

March – SUSK National Coordinator Position Announcement

In November 2013, the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK) secured funding through the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) Ukrainian Dragons competition for several initiatives, including the creation of a full-time National Coordinator position based in Ottawa, Ontario, in order to better consolidate and further professionalize our activities

May – 2015 National SUSK Congress Release

The Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK) is pleased to report on the successful completion of the 2015 National SUSK Congress held in Montréal, Québec, from May 7th to 10th, 2015. Approximately 45 delegates from post-secondary institutions across Canada came together for this year’s National Congress, themed Vive le SUSK! 

September – Greetings for the 2015-2016 Academic Year from SUSK

SUSK would like to extend greetings to all Ukrainian Canadian students beginning their 2015-2016 academic year. We would like to extend our warmest wishes to all students for the coming year and provide you with some SUSK updates.

October – SUSK Participates in the 2015 SKUMO Conference

From August 26-28, 2015, two members of SUSK participated in the conference of the World Congress of Ukrainian Youth Organizations (СКУМО) in Odessa, Ukraine.

2014

January – SUSK and SUSTA honour the memory of students at the battle of Kruty
SUSK and the Federation of Ukrainian Student Organizations of America (SUSTA) encourage their member Ukrainian Students’ Organizations to honour the memory of the brave, young students who lost their lives at the Battle of Kruty in January 1918.

SUSK urges Ukrainian Canadian students to advocate for Euromaidan
SUSK strongly urges its member Ukrainian Students’ Organizations and all Ukrainian Canadian students to continue advocating for Ukrainians protesting at Euromaidans across Ukraine.

SUSK commemorates those who lost their lives and expresses their continued support for Ukraine and its people.

SUSK recognized at UCU Scholarship Reception
SUSK was recognized at the Scholarship Reception hosted by the Ukrainian Credit Union Limited on Thursday May 15, 2014.

June – Boycott Putin Now
SUSK urges its member Ukrainian Students’ Organizations and all Ukrainian Canadian students to support the Boycott Putin Now campaign.

Commemoration of T Shevchenko Joint Project SUSK with School №155 in Kyiv
SUSK and School155, Kyiv, Ukraine started a joint project in order to commemorate 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko.

SUSK attends Tribute to Liberty Event with PM Harper
On Friday May 30, 2014 several members of SUSK’s National Executive attended a fundraiser for Tribute to Liberty, a non-profit organization whose mission is to build a Canadian memorial to the victims of communism.

Shevchenko Hope-Надія T-shirt Project
In March 2014, SUSK launched a “Hope/Надія” T-shirt Project in order to mark the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko.

August- SKUMO Annual General Meeting in Ivano-Frankivsk
From August 26-28, 2014, delegates from youth organizations of the Ukrainian diaspora gathered for the Annual General Meeting of the World Congress of Ukrainian Youth Organizations (SKUMO).

SUSK marks the 100th anniversary of Canada’s First National Internment Operations
SUSK called upon its member USOs and Ukrainian students to commemorate and raise awareness of Canada’s First National Internment Operations and encouraged all Ukrainian Canadian students to support “CTO – The One Hundred Plaques across Canada initiative.”

SUSK participates in President Poroshenkos Visit and in the UCC AGM
SUSK President Christine Czoli joined a UCC delegation in greeting the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on his first official visit to Canada.

SUSK supports English language education in Ternopil Ukraine
SUSK supported an English language education program in Ternopil, Ukraine, led by SUSK alumnus Taras Maluzynsky.

SUSK supports Ukraine through Shevchenko Hope-Надія T-shirt Project 
SUSK reported that a portion of the “Hope / Надія” t-shirt project’s proceeds went towards supporting the Maidan movement in Ukraine.

SUSK attends United for Ukraine Gala with PM Harper
On September 11, 2014 several members of SUSK attended the United for Ukraine fundraiser gala, organized in order to support the Ukrainian relief effort.

SUSK participates in the Toronto Ukrainian Festival
From September 12, 2014 through Sunday September 14, 2014, SUSK participated in the Toronto Ukrainian Festival.

October- SUSK and UCPBA-Toronto organize a Panel Discussion on Networking
On Thursday October 2, 2014, SUSK and UCPBA-Toronto organized a successful networking event and panel discussion, entitled “Transitions: How to Network Effectively.”

SUSK meets with Ukrainian Students at the University of Saskatchewan 
From October 7 through 8, 2014, SUSK President and SUSK VicePresident met and strengthened relationships with Ukrainian students at the University of Saskatchewan.

SUSK Holodomor Commemorations 2014 
SUSK called upon its member Ukrainian Students’ Organizations to commemorate and raise awareness of the Holodomor at universities across the country.

August – SUSK Independence Day Greeting
SUSK participated in the Ukrainian Flag Raising Ceremony on August 22, 2013 at Queen’s Park in Toronto, Ontario.

SUSK meets with Ukrainian Ambassador
SUSK President Christine Czoli, Executive Vice-President Nadia Demko, and Past President Danylo Korbabicz met with the Ukrainian Ambassador, his Excellency Vadym Prystaiko, in Ottawa.

SUSK participates in UWC and SKUMO
SUSK at the X Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), held in Lviv with 208 delegates and 350 guests representing 27 countries gathered to exchange ideas and develop plans for the future of the Ukrainian diaspora.

September – UCC NHAC & SUSK announce national book tour
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress National Holodomor Awareness Committee (UCC NHAC) and the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK) announces a national initiative to raise awareness of the Holodomor in the Ukrainian Canadian community as well as in the broader Canadian public.

SUSK participates in XXIV UCC Triennial Congress
On November 8-10, 2013, representatives of the Ukrainian community in Canada gathered in Toronto to participate in the XXIV Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians.

SUSK supports Euromaidan demonstrations across Canada
SUSK members have actively joined such demonstrations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal.

SUSK UCPBA Networking Event
The Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK) and the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association (UCPBA) of Toronto co-hosted the first Networking Event for Students and Recent Graduates on Thursday, November 21, 2013.
