Cassian Soltykevych


Hometown: Edmonton, Alberta

Year and Field of Study: 5th year B.Comm – Strategic Management and Organization

Cassian is a Strategic Management and Organization major at the Alberta School of Business. He is a self-employed photographer and videographer, and has traveled across Canada, France, England, and Ukraine for various projects. His clients have included RedBull Canada, the Art Gallery of Alberta, the University of Alberta, YOUCAN Youth Services, the Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF), and AirPartners. He also serves as the President of the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union and as a member of the Student Market Research Team at the U of A. He has served as VP of the Ukrainian Students’ Society, Media Director for the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union, Media Director for the Business Students’ Association, and the VP Public Relations for the EDGE Business Competition. Cassian is also part of the Leadership Certificate Program at the Alberta School of Business. The Program enables students to learn from one another and from a great deal of speakers from all walks of life.  He enjoys spending his free time reading, skiing, and watching The Colbert Report.

Danylo Moussienko

Executive Vice-President

Year and Field of Study: 4th Year Biomedical Science

Danylo is a 4th year Bachelor of Health Science student, majoring in Biomedical Science. His passion for research in Multiple Sclerosis fuels his ambition to be admitted into a joint MD/PhD program. Outside of his studies, he spends majority of his time volunteering in the Ukrainian community and various campus clubs. On campus, he founded and co-founded a photography and testicular cancer awareness club. He was also Vice-President and President of the UofC Ukrainian Students’ Society. In the greater Ukrainian community, he is currently involved in 13 Ukrainian organizations, seven of which he is a member of their regional and/or national executive committees. Most notably, he is Vice-President of the Calgary Branch of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) and the Young Members Coordinator on the CYM Canada National Executive. His efforts in the Ukrainian community include organizing Calgary’s Taras Shevchenko concert, Ukrainian Carol Festival, and Holodomor commemoration, singing in two Ukrainian choirs, and he is a videographer/editor for Echoes of Ukraine ShawTV program.

    Andriy Katyukha

    Year and Field of Study: 3rd Year Bachelor of Medical Sciences, Honours Specialization in Physiology

    Andriy is currently attending Western University, and is in his 3rd year of the Bachelor of Medical Sciences program. He is very passionate about medicine and involvement in his community. He has served as the Executive Vice President of the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union in the past. In addition to this he donates his time by serving as a Board Member on the Trillium Health Partners Volunteer Partners Board. He is very passionate about his Ukrainian upbringing and culture. He is currently the President for the Ukrainian Students’ Association at Western University, and is the Co-Chair of the Ukrainian pavilion for Carassauga, a cultural festival in his hometown of Mississauga. He is also a student researcher at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Canada’s largest cancer hospital. He looks forward to meeting students across Canada in his role, and advocating on their behalf.

      Adelia Shwec

      Year and Field of Study: 1st year of Law School
      Adelia is currently in her first year of Law School at the University of Ottawa. Aside from her studies, she dedicates her time to community life and volunteering. In college, she founded the Marianopolis College Ukrainian Students Association and became its first president. When she attended McGill University, she was the Social Coordinator of the McGill University Ukrainian Students Association. Currently, she sits on the Board of Directors of the Montreal Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) as the Youth Coordinator. In her free time, Adelia enjoys the outdoors, dancing, and socializing with friends.

        Oksana Kaczala

        Year and Field of Study: 4th year Bachelor of Science-Honours in Biochemistry

        My name is Oksana Kaczala, currently 21 years old, living in Guelph, Ontario. I am contently studying Biochemistry at the University of Guelph in hopes of pursuing a career in Pharmaceuticals. I enjoy academics but also hold a love for sports and dance. I am an active participant and a long-term member of the Barvinok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble situated in Mississauga, Ontario and enjoy showcasing Ukrainian culture to everyone of different backgrounds. I am also certified with the National Lifesaving Society, and work as a full-time lifeguard and swim instructor with the City of Toronto. I am proud to mention an accomplishment that I have recently had with reviving the Ukrainian Students’ Club as the University of Guelph. By pooling together with my fellow Ukrainian students to formulate the New Executive, my new position is now President of the Guelph University Ukrainian Students Club.

          Natalia Radyo

          Year and Field of Study:  4th year Bachelor of Science in Nursing

          Natalia is a 4th year nursing student at the University of Alberta. She currently works as an undergraduate nurse in Edmonton, and plans on pursuing travel nursing abroad after graduating. Natalia has worked for the Ukrainian Canadian Congress- Alberta Provincial Council as a community outreach coordinator, served on the executive of the Ukrainian Student’s Society at the University of Alberta for 2 years (this year will be a 3rd!), is actively involved in PLAST, and is a dancer and executive member of the Volya Ukrainian Dance Ensemble in Edmonton. She also enjoys hiking, camping, skiing and travelling.

            Stephanie Nedoshytko

            External Relations Director

            University: MacEwan University
            Year and Field of Study: 4th year BA – Political Science

            Stephanie is a 4th year Bachelor of Arts student majoring in Political Science at MacEwan University. She currently works in the Speaker’s Office at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in addition to working as an Academic Research Assistant at MacEwan University, researching diaspora politics and foreign policy. As a co-founder of the MacEwan Ukrainian Students Club, she has served both as two term President as well as Treasurer. Stephanie sits on the Students Association of MacEwan University Student Council, and is a former MacEwan Ambassador which has allowed her to represent the university on and off campus. She is also member of the MacEwan United Nations Club which has given her the opportunity to participate in the National Model United Nations in New York, New York.  In her free time, she enjoys geeking out to provincial politics and watching animal videos.

              Kimberly Gargus

              Year and Field of Study: 4th year Bachelor of Science in Biology

              Kimberly is an active member in the university community. She has completed her second year as a MacEwan Ambassador with over 50 volunteer hours, is an active member of several campus clubs, and currently sits on Students’ Council. She, alongside a small group of students, founded the MacEwan University Ukrainian Students Club in 2013 and has acted as an executive member to help grow and develop the club to have success. In her leisure time, Kimberly enjoys getting Starbucks with friends, spending time out at her family farm, and is currently learning to read and speak Ukrainian. She is incredibly excited to be joining the SUSK team for the 2016/2017 year.

                Ivanka Soletsky

                Ivanka is a 3rd year Bachelor of Science student majoring in Pharmacology at the University of Alberta. Currently, she is President of the University of Alberta Ukrainian Students’ Society, the Organizational Director at the Edmonton Branch of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM), as well as the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Alberta Provincial Council. In her free time, Ivanka enjoys being outdoors, travelling, and playing volleyball.

                  Year and Field of Study: 3rd year B.Comm – Marketing

                  Maria is a Third Year Marketing student at Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan. She is in the Edwards Co-operative Education Program and will have an 8-month internship in January at Federated Co-operatives Limited in the Marketing and Communications department. Currently, she dances with a semi-professional dance company, Pavlychenko Folklorique Ensemble (PFE). She actively volunteers with PFE, primarily focusing on the Ukrainian community. Aside from her studies, work, and dance (with volunteer work), Maria enjoys hanging out with her friends and having R&R time.

                    Ashley Halko-Addley

                    Year and Field of Study: 4th Year BA – Anthropology

                    Ashley Halko-Addley is a Fourth Year Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Saskatchewan, majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Ukrainian Studies. Currently she is Co-President of the University of Saskatchewan Ukrainian Students’ Association. Ashley is an active volunteer in the Saskatoon Ukrainian Community. When she is not studying or volunteering, Ashley likes to dance, read, and knit.

                      Christine Czoli

                      University:  University of Waterloo
                      Year and Field of Study: 5th year PhD in Public Health

                      Christine Czoli is a 5th year doctoral student in Public Health, specializing in tobacco control policy. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in Human Biology, and began her Master’s at the University of Waterloo, from which she progressed into her PhD. Christine works on research projects to inform public health policy on electronic cigarettes. Aside from her research, Christine is very involved in the Ukrainian Canadian community and enjoys travelling, reading, and learning from others.
