Devon Sereda Goldie is an MA Candidate in Applied Theatre at the University of Victoria. Her research is entitled “Пам’ять/Pam’yat (Memory): Theatre as a Vehicle for Healing Intergenerational Trauma within the Ukrainian Canadian Experience”. She has been developing a play about Ukrainian-Canadian immigration and oppression over the past three years which has been staged twice. In the future, she hopes to tour the show to Ukrainian communities across Canada. She is passionate about telling stories and sharing Ukrainian culture. This past year, she founded the UVic Ukrainian Students’ Society with four other passionate Ukrainian students which has grown to have 20 regularly attending members. In addition, this past year Devon served as a Board member for the Ukrainian Canadian Cultural Society of Vancouver Island and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Victoria Branch, as well as Vice President West for SUSK. She is thrilled to be returning to the SUSK Executive this year as Vice President National and is excited to support USO’s in growing their membership and potential!
