Journalism Student Summer Employment Opportunity
TheNew Pathway is looking for new journalists for our summer paid internship. This internship is open to journalism students who are currently enrolled in post secondary program in a field of study that will lead to a career in journalism.
Interns work with full-time staff in a challenging but supportive environment. This internships is a paid position supported by the Government of Canada’s Summer Student Work Program.
Summer Investigative Reporting Intern Program:
The program runs from June-August. Successful candidates spend their internship focused on investigative assignement(s) which will require research, investigative interviewing and fact finding, as well as story writing and content editing.
Investigative assignments will be based on significant community based stories and the editorial position of the New Pathway Media Group.
This is an opportunity for journalism students to refine their skills and take lead positions in insightful and informative investigative journalism.
Qualifications
What we look for:
Enthusiastic, talented, curious and intelligent journalists with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a passion for journalism who bring energy, ideas and new perspectives. Strong reporting skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately are requirements. Fluency in English is required, Fluency in Ukrainian is also desired by not mandatory.

Application Should Demonstrate:
- Proven ability to report thoroughly, write well, synthesize and organize information
- Multimedia experience, including video, audio and photography is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills

Interviews will be conducted between May 30th and June 3rd.
Students should be available to work from June 6th to approximately Mid-August.
