The Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK) condemns the repression of Belarusian citizens participating in peaceful demonstrations, following the election on August 9th, 2020. SUSK appeals to the Belarusian authorities to respect and honour the basic human rights of its citizens.
We, alongside many others, stand with the Belarusian people to defend their right for free and democratic elections. As Ukrainians, we relate to the Belarusian people’s desire for change, as we experienced a similar desire during the Revolution of Dignity in 2014.
SUSK Stands alongside the UWC’s call “upon the Belarusian authorities to publish the authentic election results and to end all violence and intimidation against peaceful protesters.”
