Ukrainian Canadians have been active participants in Canada’s political, cultural, and social spheres for many generations. As we witness the onset of the sixth wave of Ukrainian immigration to Canada, it’s important to understand the unique challenges and context of each wave, from the initial arrival of two peasants on the Canadian prairies to the current situation of thousands of Ukrainian women and children seeking safety from Russian aggression.
