Here’s a list of scholarships and awards across the country available exclusively to Ukrainian students
Canada-Wide Scholarships
Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS)
Who it’s for: Doctoral students of any nationality (including Ukrainian students) pursuing a PhD at a Canadian institution.
Amount: $50,000 per year for up to 3 years.
Eligibility & Requirements: Awarded based on academic excellence, research potential, and leadership. Must be nominated by a Canadian university.
Deadline: Annual competition; institutional nomination deadlines vary (typically September–November).
Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships
Who it’s for: Top-tier postdoctoral researchers, Canadian or international (including Ukrainians), affiliated with a Canadian host institution.
Amount: $70,000 per year for 2 years.
Eligibility & Requirements: Must demonstrate exceptional research achievements, leadership potential, and a strong match with the host institution.
Deadline: Annual cycle; applications typically open in April and close in September.
EDC Empowerment Scholarship
Who it’s for: Post-secondary students in Canada, especially those from the Ukrainian community who demonstrate leadership and reflect EDC’s values of inclusion and diversity.
Amount: $5,000 (one-time award).
Eligibility & Requirements: 7 scholarships for community leaders and 20 scholarships for students in International Business programs.
Deadline: Next cycle opens in February 2026.
RBC Future Launch Scholarship
Who it’s for: Canadian youth aged 15–29, including Ukrainian newcomers and students, whether enrolled part-time or not in school at all. Can be used for short-term courses, certificates, workshops, equipment, books, or other education-related needs.
Amount: $1,500 (one-time award); up to 500 scholarships awarded annually.
Eligibility & Requirements: Canadian citizen or permanent resident , not currently employed by RBC or related to someone who is, must demonstrate a clear vision for the future.
Deadline: Year-round.
TD Scholarship for Community Leadership
Who it’s for: Students in their final year of high school (outside Quebec) or final year of CEGEP (in Quebec) who have demonstrated community leadership.
Amount: Up to $70,000 over 4 years (includes full tuition and $7,500/year for living expenses).
Eligibility & Requirements: Canadian citizen or permanent resident, entering post-secondary studies in the following academic year, proven track record of community involvement and leadership
Deadline: Mid-November annually, next cycle opens September 2025.
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI)
Who it’s for: Senior undergraduate students from eligible countries, including Ukraine, interested in conducting research in Canada.
Amount: Fully funded 12-week research internship, including travel, accommodation, and living stipend (exact funding varies by country).
Eligibility & Requirements: Must be a senior undergraduate student in an eligible country (e.g. Ukraine), matched with a Canadian faculty supervisor for a research project Interns must travel to Canada between May and October for 12 weeks. Participants may be eligible to apply for the Globalink Graduate Fellowship to pursue graduate studies in Canada.
Deadline: student application period opens in summer/fall 2025.
Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA)
Who it’s for: Full-time senior undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows at eligible Canadian or international institutions. Open to Ukrainian students.
Amount: 1) $6,000 for a single 12–24 week research project (1 internship unit) and 2) $12,000 for two 12–24 week projects or one 24–48 week project (2 internship units)
Eligibility & Requirements: Must be registered full-time at an eligible institution throughout the project, must be at least 18 years old, postdocs must have completed their PhD within the past 5 years, cannot hold more than two Mitacs Globalink or JSPS awards in a lifetime, cannot do the project in a country where they hold citizenship or earned a previous degree.
Deadline: Rolling basis; submit applications well in advance, depending on the destination and institutional requirements.
Province-Specific Scholarships & Support
Ontario–Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship
Who it’s for: Undergraduate and graduate students studying at publicly-assisted colleges and universities in Ontario who have been directly or indirectly impacted by the war in Ukraine and demonstrate financial need.
Amount: $10,000 (one-time award).
Eligibility & Requirements: Must be enrolled at an eligible Ontario institution, demonstrate financial need, and be affected by the conflict in Ukraine (either directly or through family circumstances).
Deadline: Varies by institution.
Important Note: Each Ontario institution is allocated a limited number of awards and may set its own eligibility details and deadline. Students are encouraged to check directly with their financial aid office for current availability and application instructions. Ukrainian Student Tuition Relief in Saskatchewan
Who it’s for: Ukrainian students in Saskatchewan under the CUAET program pursuing post-secondary education in the province.
Amount: Domestic tuition rates; the province covers the difference from international rates.
Eligibility & Requirements: Must have arrived in Saskatchewan under CUAET, must be applying to a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution, must meet one of the following: graduated from a Saskatchewan high school, lived in Saskatchewan for 1 year, or arrived in 2022+ and only lived in Saskatchewan.
Deadline: No fixed deadline. Students are encouraged to apply early and confirm timing with their institution. Additional Support: May be eligible for up to $24,000 in tax credits, scholarships, and other supports may be available through institutions.
Anna Kisil Scholarship in Ontario
Who it’s for: Ukrainian citizens aged 18–24 enrolled in full-time undergraduate programs at accredited colleges or universities in Ontario, Canada, starting Fall 2025 or Winter 2026, and actively engaged in Ukrainian community leadership or volunteerism.
Amount: Varies by year
Eligibility & Requirements: Ukrainian citizenship, fluency in English and Ukrainian, full-time undergraduate enrollment in Ontario, leadership and community involvement in the Ukrainian community.
Deadline: June (annually)
Field-of-Study Specific Scholarships
Mary Dyma Scholarship for Religious Studies
Who it’s for: Lay women who are members of a Ukrainian Catholic parish in Canada and pursuing Catholic or Eastern Christian studies at the post-secondary level. Offered by the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC).
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility & Requirements: Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program in religious studies. Required documents: confirmation of enrollment, transcript from the previous year, and three letters of reference (educator, church representative, and parish priest).
Deadline: May 31 (annually)
Vera Buczynsky Ukrainian Language Studies Scholarship
Who it’s for: Lay women who are members of a Ukrainian Catholic parish in Canada and studying Ukrainian language at a post-secondary level. Offered by the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC).

Ukrainian Credit Union (UCU) Scholarships by Field
Who it’s for: UCU members pursuing post-secondary education in Canada.
Amount: $2,000–$2,500 depending on scholarship; up to $1,000 for Community Leadership Scholarship.
Eligibility & Requirements: Applicants must be UCU members for at least two years. Open to students in specific fields:
- Michael Rebryk Memorial Scholarship – $2,500 (sports or performing arts)
- Wasyl Sytnyk Memorial Scholarship – $2,500 (business or finance)
- Eugene Roman Scholarship – $2,500 (technology)
- New Pathway Journalism Fellowship – $2,000 (journalism/media)
- Community Leadership Scholarship – up to $1,000 (any field; demonstrated community involvement)
Deadline: typically opens annually in spring.
Taras Shevchenko Foundation Scholarships & Bursaries (Canada-wide)
Who it’s for: Ukrainian Canadian students and newcomers from Ukraine pursuing post-secondary education in Canada across various fields. It covers: Arts, Business & Engineering, Education, Science & Medicine, Trades, Ukrainian Studies, and Community Leadership.
Amount: Varies by award and field; typically ranges from $500 to several thousand dollars.
Eligibility & Requirements: Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and Ukrainian newcomers. Each award has specific criteria (e.g. region, field, academic level).
Deadline: July 1–31 annually.
BCU Foundation Canada 150 Graduate Scholarship
Who it’s for: Outstanding Ukrainian Canadian graduate students (Master’s, MBA, PhD, or post-doctoral) studying at a recognized institution in North America.
Amount: $10,000
Eligibility & Requirements: Open to all fields of study, with preference for science, engineering, technology, and business. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and community involvement.
Deadline: Annually; application must be submitted 60–90 days prior to project completion or event date.
Buduchnist Credit Union (BCU Financial) Scholarships (Ontario-wide)
Who it’s for: BCU Financial members who are active in the Ukrainian-Canadian community, including newcomers under CUAET.
Amount: Multiple annual awards ranging from $1,000 to $2,500
Eligibility & Requirements:
- Oksana Prociuk Leadership Scholarship: 2 awards of $2,500 for undergraduate students (min. B+ average) with demonstrated leadership.
- BCU Scholarship: 4 awards of $2,000 for students in any field (at least 1 reserved for Ukrainian Studies).
- Wolodymyr Klish Memorial Scholarship: $2,500 for a student in business or finance.
- BCU High School Scholarships: 2 awards of $1,500 for graduating high school students entering post-secondary.
- BCU Founder Scholarship: 2 awards of $1,500 for college diploma/certificate program students.
- BCU “Nova Buduchnist” Student Bursary: Up to 5 awards of $1,000 for CUAET newcomers enrolled in college/university and participating in BCU’s Nova Buduchnist newcomer program.
